Banadir Governor Appoints New Shangaani District Commissioner

New Leadership for Shangaani: The appointment was announced in Mogadishu on April 29, 2026, as part of administrative changes within the Banadir Regional Administration. Mohamed Ali Siyid will now lead Shangaani district, one of the historic districts of Somalia’s capital city.

Outgoing Commissioner Relieved of Duties: According to the announcement, Safiyo Osman Mohamed has been relieved of her position as District Commissioner of Shangaani. The administration did not provide further details on the reasons behind the leadership change.

Mayor’s Directive to the New Commissioner: Dr. Hassan Mohamed Hussein Muungaab urged the newly appointed district commissioner to prioritize the development of Shangaani, improve the district’s public appearance, and expand access to essential services for residents.
