Somalia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Arrives in Johannesburg for Diaspora Engagement Visit

Hassan Mohamed Ali “Nadara,” has arrived in Johannesburg, South Africa, following an invitation from the Somali community, in a visit aimed at strengthening engagement with the diaspora and improving services for Somalis living abroad.

Official Arrival in Johannesburg: The Deputy Minister arrived in Johannesburg on Thursday, 30 April 2026, as part of an official outreach mission focused on meeting members of the Somali diaspora in South Africa. The visit reflects the Federal Government of Somalia’s continued efforts to maintain close ties with Somali communities abroad and address issues affecting citizens outside the country.

Delegation Accompanying the Minister: H.E. Hassan Mohamed Ali “Nadara” is accompanied by the Director of the Somali Diaspora Affairs Department, Mr. Ibrahim Guure Mohamed, and departmental adviser Mr. Abdulsalam Yusuf Aden. The delegation was received by the Acting Ambassador and Deputy Ambassador, Mr. Ismail Abdulle Soomane, alongside officials from the Somali Embassy in South Africa.

Focus on Diaspora Relations: According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the visit will prioritize direct engagement with the Somali community in South Africa. Discussions are expected to focus on strengthening diaspora relations, improving consular and community services, and identifying practical ways to enhance cooperation between government institutions and Somali citizens overseas.
