Mogadishu (Salmurux News) — The Deputy Minister of Health of the Federal Government of Somalia, Mohamed Hassan Mohamed (Bullaale), has made history by becoming the first Somali government minister to officially visit the Somali National Association of the Deaf (SONAD) headquarters — a groundbreaking step highlighting the importance of standing with the country’s disabled community.
The SONAD association expressed deep gratitude to Minister Bulaale, describing him as a leader with integrity, an open heart, and genuine commitment. He was praised for:
✅ His historic visit to SONAD
✅ Continuous support for the deaf community
✅ Bridging government and non-governmental institutions
✅ Advocating to amplify the voice of deaf Somalis
✅ Leading with empathy and a visionary approach

Minister’s Words: “I Stand with the Deaf Community of Somalia”
In a brief speech during his visit, Minister Mohamed Hassan Bullaale noted that he had met with the association’s Chairman Secretary, Mr. Muse Hassan Kadle — his former teacher and the founder of SONAD — which he described as a great honor.
“Today, as the Deputy Minister of Health, it is a profound honor for me to meet with you. I promise that I will stand by your side to the best of our ability and capacity. Whatever is possible, we will work on together,” Minister Bullaale told SONAD.
The Minister’s Message to the Deaf Community
Minister Bullaale delivered a special message directly to the Somali deaf community, using sign language to ensure his words reached all hearing-impaired individuals.
“I want to send a heartfelt greeting to all Somali deaf people and to the wider Somali community across the world — thank you all.”
The Importance of Using Sign Language
Minister Bullaale is recognized as the first Somali minister at his level to directly use sign language to express support, applause, and joy for the deaf community. This action has boosted SONAD’s confidence and raised the hopes of Somalia’s hearing-impaired population.
