Funeral Held in Beledweyne for Soldiers Killed in Ceel-Baraf

After extensive discussions, an agreement was reached last night to bury six soldiers from the Federal Government forces who were killed 10 days ago in the Ceel-Baraf district.

A state funeral was held on the outskirts of Beledweyne city for the soldiers killed in Ceel-Baraf. The ceremony was attended by clan elders from both sides, government officials including the new Minister of Petroleum, the Director of National Intelligence, the Commander of the National Army, and federal MPs.

Following the killing of the soldiers, some members of the soldiers abandoned their unit base in the Xawaadley area of the Middle Shabelle region.

After the burial, elders in Beledweyne instructed the soldiers who had left their positions to return to their posts and resume their duties in the locations designated by the Federal Government.

Meanwhile, the military court issued arrest warrants for 14 suspects, including two women, accused of involvement in the killing of the soldiers who fled the scene of the crime.

In operations conducted by government forces in response to the incident in Ceel-Baraf, numerous individuals, including the district commissioner of Ceel-Baraf, were arrested.
